  1. uh...like you're cleaning it for them???? or you're cleaning it/going through it trying to find something??? yeah she needs to clean it herself. my mom had me cleaning the kitchen, washing clothes, and cleaning bathrooms by that age. cleaning my own room was just a given. if she's the one that let it get that messy then she needs to clean it. sure you can help a little for the really big stuff, but other than that it's her responsibility. here's what she should do... -take out all dirty clothes (and wash them) -make the bed -put all things where they belong(not just thrown in the closet or under the bed) -dust -clean the floor -then get her own clean clothes out of the dryer, fold them and put them away. it's not that hard and she should be more than capable of doing it.
  2. 1. Make the bed. 2. put all the mess from the dresser and floor on the bed. 3. When 13 yo girl gets home tell her to clean her room 4. She will do it because if she doesn't she will have no place to sleep. 5. Reward her efforts with a big hug and a small gift like a new hair band or nail polish. My mum used this method on a regular basis but she left out the hug and reward.
  3. its her duty to clean her room 1.ask her to clean her room 2.help her if you want. if she do it kiss her and thank her for do this.
  4. First I would pick up all the dirty clothes laying around and take them right away to the washer and start a load. Once all those clothes are out of the way, it will be a bit easier. I would take everything out of the dresser drawers. Assign certain clothes to each drawer such as...tops in one, socks undies bras in one, pj's in one and so on. If there is not enough room, then hang up what you can. I like to hang pants/jeans and hoodies (they take up a lot of room). Throw away (without asking because you are doing this) any clothing you have not seen your child in for a long time or the items you know they have out grown. Keep a couple of garbage bags with you. Then you can start on the toys. At 13 your child is probably outgrowing most of the toys, so box up all of them. You can ask them if there is one special one they would like to keep and the rest goes (donate). Then you can go through the books and start organizing and cleaning. It will take you all day, but you and your child will love it and it will not be so overwhelming now and your child can do the upkeep of cleaning and keep the household happy.
